There is nothing finer than hearing the haunting cry of curlews, on a remote hill with a fresh westerly lifting the hair and clouds scudding across the tops. Minute by minute the face of the landscape changes – from wild to wonderful – as jostling sunlight and cloud scurry by.

The Lie of the Land is a series of paintings reflecting those times when I have been captivated by the view – near and far – from the gaze of a curious cow to the cloud mantled hills hiding their secrets.
